Counter Terrorism Financial Investigation & Cryptocurrency – Hyatt Regency Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, 11 – 15 May 2026

As part of Malaysia’s commitment to strengthening the efforts against terrorism financing, Southeast Asia Regional Centre for Counter-Terrorism (SEARCCT) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs successfully organised
the Counter Terrorism Financing Investigation & Cryptocurrency Course from 11 to 15 May 2026 at Hyatt Regency Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

The programme brought together 30 participants from various enforcement and regulatory agencies across Malaysia to enhance knowledge and practical skills in terrorism financing investigations, cryptocurrency analysis
and financial intelligence. The course also aimed to strengthen inter-agency coordination and understanding of
Malaysia’s AML/CFT framework.

The programme featured expert speakers from the Royal Malaysian Police, Attorney General’s Chambers of
Malaysia, Bank Negara Malaysia and Royal Malaysian Customs Department.

Sessions included terrorism financing trends, money laundering investigations, blockchain tracing and tabletop
exercises to enhance operational readiness.

The opening and closing ceremonies were officiated by Datin Paduka Nur Ashikin Mohd Taib, who emphasized the importance of collaboration and capacity building in addressing evolving terrorism financing threats. The course concluded with a certificate presentation ceremony and reflected Malaysia’s continued commitment towards strengthening national and regional counter-terrorism efforts.
