The Aviation Security Workshop – Basic 2025 was recently held in Impiana Hotel
Senai, Johor, bringing together key aviation stakeholders to enhance regional counter-terrorism capabilities.

SEARCCT, under the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, organised this workshop, which featured expert speakers from various government agencies and aviation stakeholders, including the Royal Malaysian Police, Royal Malaysia Customs Department, Immigration Department of Malaysia, Civil Aviation Authority Malaysia (CAAM), Malaysia Airlines Berhad, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad, and Ground Team Red.

The workshop was significant in strengthening inter-agency cooperation and operational readiness in countering threats posed by the misuse of civil aviation in terrorist activities. Participants engaged in lectures, case studies, demonstrations, and discussions on best practices in mitigating aviation-related security threats.

As part of the program, a security tour at Senai International Airport and a scenario-based tabletop exercise were conducted to evaluate participants’ knowledge, with a focus on airport security vulnerabilities and incident response strategies. This initiative reflects SEARCCT’s ongoing commitment to enhancing Malaysia’s and the region’s counter-terrorism preparedness.
