The Research and Publications Division of the Southeast Asia Regional Centre for Counter-Terrorism (SEARCCT) successfully organized the Support for Research Excellence 2.0 (SURE 2.0) Workshop, held from 11 to 12 March 2025 at SEARCCT.
Building on the success of SURE 1.0 in September 2024, this second installment reaffirms SEARCCT’s commitment to strengthening research capabilities in Counter-Terrorism (CT) and Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE). The workshop aimed to enhance participants’ writing skills, equipping them with the tools necessary to effectively articulate research findings, structure compelling narratives, and contribute to high-quality publications.
A key highlight of SURE 2.0 was the presence of Dr. Murni Wan Mohd Nor from the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) as the distinguished speaker. Through a series of interactive discussions, knowledge-sharing sessions, and hands-on group exercises, participants were introduced to essential writing techniques, best practices for academic publishing, and strategies for effectively presenting research data.
Initiatives like SURE underscore SEARCCT’s dedication to fostering a dynamic and robust research ecosystem in Counter-Terrorism and PCVE. By equipping officers with strong writing and analytical skills, SEARCCT ensures that research outputs remain impactful, evidence-based, and relevant to policy and operational needs.
